13 labor conflicts have taken place in Kazakhstan companies since the beginning of 2012, Tengrinews.kz reports citing Kazakhstan Minister of Labor and Social Protection Gulshara Abdykalikova. “Despite of all the measures taken, there have been 13 labor conflicts, 1,043 people were injured and 127 people died in the first 6 months. These conflicts had economic nature: the employees were not happy with the working conditions and wages,” Abdykalikova said at the extended meeting of the Ministry’s commission. She said that starting from last year the Ministry had been holding a regular monitoring of the companies’ activities by ten factors defining their social climate. “Thanks to this work, state labor inspectors revealed salary debts (salaries not being timely paid) totally worth 3.6 billion tenge ($24.5 million) in 390 companies. The measures taken by the Ministry helped get 282 companies to pay their debts to the employees in the amount of 1.8 billion tenge ($12 million). 121 companies still have their debts unpaid,” the Minister said.
